Volume 172

A lot of what I love

As curated by Berto Centofante

I'm a photographer and observer.

I've got a project with my brother and best bud, focused on creating a curated magazine of sorts called "Loaf Made." It's going to include a lot of what I love: photography, art, writing, and some good old opinions. I’m working on curating my photography, which is fun. Going over so much work and finding some shots I may have forgotten about is always pleasant. My photography has grown so much in the last year, and continuing to find subjects and create new work is really all I want to be doing.

What's been keeping you grounded?

WHAT'S KEEPING ME GROUNDED

Photography

Whether it involves creating new work, reading technical books, or flipping though photo books, photography consumes a significant part of my mental focus. The more I learn about it, the stronger my desire to absorb information and venture out to capture images becomes.Shooting most of my work on film often leads me down deep rabbit holes in search of the best workflows and techniques. Over the past year, I've significantly refined my kit and workflow, which is quite satisfying. I now feel much more confident that when I set out to create something, it's going to work out well.Photography enhances my ability to observe life around me. Once you become more attuned to these details, you begin to notice and appreciate the beauty in this peculiar world.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“He's an idealist, he's a dreamer of a beautiful dream and even if the dream doesn't come true, it's rather thrilling to have dreamt it.”

— Somerset Maugham The Razor's Edge

WHAT IM ROCKIN'

I've owned the sherpa hoodie since it was released. The past winter in Southern California was an actual winter, so it got a lot of morning wears. I'm excited to start incorporating it back into my wardrobe as the temperature cools down. The Shepherds Shirt in Hickory Stripe is beyond cool, as well as the Courier Pant in Hickory Stripe.

WHAT I'M DRINKING

Whenever I decide to have a drink, I often lean towards Suntory Hibiki Whiskey; it's a fantastic choice.

WHAT I'M UP TO, HEALTH-WISE

I've recently been using a dry sauna a few times a week. It feels amazing because it's a bit of a mental challenge, but it's always rewarding to sweat everything out.

WHAT I'M READING
“The Moon and Sixpence” by Somerset Maugham
The last book I read was "The Moon and Sixpence." I'm always captivated by novels set in 1900-1930s Europe. The lifestyle during that era appeared so vibrant and interconnected. The absence of easy communication in that time led to such interesting stories.

What are you listening to?

WHAT I'M INTO LATELY
Watches
I spend a solid thirty minutes a day browsing through Hodinkee, admiring watches I can't afford. I love everything about watches, from vintage to modern. I view them as valuable tokens to reward oneself with, should one ever be fortunate enough to possess the means and accomplish something noteworthy.
