#1 What's keeping me grounded

My wife and my kids are the backbone of what I do. The stage and social media can lead to a strange narcissistic avoidance of the simple little joys of being human. My wife, my children, and my friends are an incredible antidote to any of this. For the past few years I’ve been trying my best to make music from this grounded place. “In bloom” (a record I just released), feels well rooted in my family and my community.

Jon's musical journey began in a California garage filled with surfboards.

These were the humble beginnings of multi-platinum selling, Grammy Award winning alt-rock band SWITCHFOOT. As the stages and crowds grew larger, Foreman sought personal connection, performing acoustic "aftershows" in venue parking lots. These inspired the 24 songs he released as solo EPs in 2007: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.
In 2015, he followed up with another set of 24 songs. "The Wonderlands,” a song for every hour. The project culminated with an attempt to play 25 shows in 24 hours, documented in the film, "25 IN 24."

In 2021, Foreman released his first full length record, “Departures” - a meditation on the polarities of the human experience: faith and doubt, life and death.
His latest work, “In Bloom,” was crafted to accompany a drive down the coast of Foreman’s hometown. Nuanced and subtle as the California shoreline, the collection is a return to the restraint of Foreman’s first solo effort.

"The switchfoot BroAm is an event that is near and dear to my heart. It’s a rock concert and a surf contest that brings 17,000 people to our home beach raising money and awareness for kids who need our support. It’s a ton of time for the band and our team but these kids are soooo worth it!"

#2 Quote of the week

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is,'What are you doing for others?'"
