WHEN THERE IS NO CLARITY MAKE ART
WHEN THERE IS NO CLARITY MAKE ART
AS CURATED BY MICHAEL LYNCH
Founder, Artist, Craftsman, Underground Poet
We’ve gone 5 years strong determining eighths of inches as our destiny and way forward. We’ve spent 5 years honing craft under perfectly balanced lights and challenging circumstances. We’ve engaged with our little Family of Customers for 5 years, growing stronger every day and the base has been resilience. There is so much to celebrate and so much to grow on - it's 5 years young, really. In the past 18 months, we’ve built an HQ at the beach (with very little capital and a whole lot of hustle, friends and heart), we’ve built a truly sustainable globally reaching supply chain in the midst of a global trade mess, we’ve made ends meet, so to speak. And it's all because of THE DREAM.
It’s a strange sensation, making art into business.
I’ve been lost many times but never as lost as I find myself when I am trying to venture back and forth between the right brain and left brain. I often have to remind myself that they are still, one brain. Just doesn’t feel that way for some reason, especially lately.
We share stories about the human experience and put a huge amount of love into them. Oh, and we’ll give you 15% off your next purchase.
It’s a hard truth to realize that when you are building from a true spot, the quality will speak for itself. This means it tells you when it sucks and it tells you when it's great; the product speaks for itself or it can’t. Feel me? I’ve realized that what we are here to do - at Imperfects - what we are here to accomplish and publish in the form of goods (namely garments and surfable objects, maybe someday soon, services) is, Craftsmanship. Above all, I want to be a Steward of Craft.
Of the Craft I know - of the craft I grew up negotiating and leveraging, of the craft I love. The craft of making utility, fresh utility that is useful and reminiscent or reminding of the best version of oneself. Growth comes in a lot of ways but I have found that it tends to shoot from the firehose when you go ‘all in.’

The Entire Summer 25 Collection: Simple Pleasures. This collection represents so much for me and the Imperfects Crew. It represents persistence, hard-work and applied learnings, more than anything. There are some fabrics in here, namely the Summer Cloth, which I have been working for over a decade to produce at real levels so the achievement feels huge to me. The pieces are so much more refined and absolutely a dream to rock.
If I had to choose a Kit of The Week though, it’s got to be the Courier Pant Sharp Fit in Craft Canvas (A refined tapering leg w/ belt loops and french buckle; everything about the OG but better) and the Cliffs Camp Shirt in Summer Cloth. Classy.
This revelation is self-fulfilling only because Imperfects is on a journey of transformation guided by nothing other than the honesty that comes with craftsmanship. What do I mean by that? I mean to say, call me out on my opinions outside of my own art because I fully reserve the right to make art, selfishly, truthfully and wholeheartedly. If that doesn’t make sense, these chore pants won’t fit you (pun intended)! So with that, it is my full pleasure to announce that the newest collection from Imperfects, Simple Pleasures, is live. There are fabrics in this collection, I have truly been trying to manufacture at scale for well over 5 years, some over a decade and man, it is cool to see them come to life on-body. I can’t wait to hear what you all think and more importantly, see you at Mick’s Pub for a Beer(IYKYK).
