What’s Good Fam,
Mike here, slidin’ into your scroll zone for a little Saturday Morning light-heartedness. So I just got back from Ireland, we went on a straight media mission and we ended up shooting over 40 rolls of film, too many hours of Video to count, including at least 7 or 8 cartridges of Super8 and not only did we come back exhausted in the best of ways but fully inspired. We went with this simple goal of realizing one of my greatest dreams which was/ is/ will continue to be to put Shepherds Shirts on Shepherds, literally.

It might sound like a small thing but to me, it means the World. Well, we succeeded. I’m full of humility about the whole thing- this trip made me feel small in so many ways and I’m incredibly stoked about it. First of all, it wouldn’t have been possible without my super talented Brothers who came with to create out of pure soul - can’t thank you guys enough for giving your time and energy, it’s a lot to ask and a lot to give - but also look, this ain’t winnin’ the Super Bowl or the Fedex Cup… this is just a quiet dream being realized with a really small group of good people. Sometimes, it feels silly to chase your dreams into reality because they can seem like childish ideas but then a squad backs you up on believing in them and it becomes something real, something special.

At first, the whole journey to put Shepherds Shirts on Shepherds around the world was just a conversational thing which clicked in as an ‘Aha!’ moment the first time it came up - like a red thread weaving through a vast sea of blue tying it altogether. ‘That would make sense of it all,’ I said to myself out loud over some beers in the first Imperfects showroom in East Village San Diego. It would show the people that this over-shirt is not only meant to be a physical everyday style utility but it’s meant to become a symbol or reminder of the concept of giving and receiving help - it would hopefully represent the idea that your imperfections will most often lead to the best life experiences and self-discoveries.

Sounds like a nice pie in the sky thing at first, perhaps read aloud at a spoken word gathering like an existential string of thoughts by a surfed-out artist who thinks he can take on the world with will-power and optimism(cough cough). Well, I am here to share with you that as lofty or existential as those dreams may first seem, persistence, teamwork, non-stop belief in the dream and a $hit load of hard work can turn into small wins that carry a heavy, meaningful weight - sometimes feeling more important than the big wins. And then they start stacking up, and then you create momentum. Then that momentum starts to build traction and clarity. That’s what this trip represents for me. We couldn’t afford to be out there, we were all over-worked and stressed and didn’t think finding the time for this was the right move but something special kept pulling us in and it was the mana itself that just forced us to make it happen - looking back at the photos, it was not only worth it, it was a defining moment in the future we are building at Imperfects which all boils down to building quality human experiences. I just wanted to take a moment and share some of my favorite photos from the trip - this is a bit premature as we are pulling together a whole media launch for this beast but what the heck, I was born premature and it's been the story of my life ever since so here goes nothin’!
